Faceclaim Rules
What is a faceclaim?
A faceclaim, sometimes abbreviated to “FC”, is the use of a real person's appearance to represent a fictional character in a roleplay setting. It may include, in particular, photos, videos or other visual depictions. Using a faceclaim does not mean that the person depicted participates in the RP, approves of the character or has any connection with Altersive.
Respect for the people depicted
Users must respect image rights, copyright and legitimate removal requests. A publicly accessible photo is not necessarily free to use. A person's fame or the mention of their name does not, on its own, constitute permission to use their image. Altersive does not guarantee that all faceclaims used on the platform have the necessary permissions.
Strictly prohibited faceclaims
The following categories are prohibited: Minors: no real person under 18 may be used as a faceclaim. Deceased people: using a deceased person's appearance as a faceclaim is prohibited. Explicit refusal: the choice of anyone who has clearly refused the use of their image for RP must be respected. Reasoned prohibitions: certain people may appear on the official list when objective, relevant and verifiable information justifies a prohibition according to Altersive's criteria. A rumor, an unverified accusation or mere dislike is not sufficient to justify inclusion in this last category.
AI-generated visuals
Faceclaim depictions generated by artificial intelligence are prohibited. In particular, artificially generating a real person's face, creating a fake portrait intended for RP or publishing a generated image as though it were an authentic photo is prohibited. Altersive's general rules on AI-generated visual content also apply.
Official prohibited faceclaims list
Altersive provides a searchable list of prohibited faceclaims. Depending on available information, an entry may contain: * The person's name. * Their public @Instagram account, when relevant. * One or more reasons for prohibition. * Appropriate public sources, when necessary and verifiable. A person may appear on the list for multiple reasons. The list must not be used to spread rumors, private information or accusations presented as established without sufficient justification. A name's absence from the list does not mean its use is automatically permitted.
Sources and supporting information
Public sources may be accessible to users when they are relevant, reliable and appropriate. Altersive may review, in particular, public statements refusing use in RP and other information directly related to the stated reason. Private supporting information received by the administration is not automatically published. Altersive may remove a source or change a reason when information is incorrect, outdated or likely to unfairly infringe a person's rights.
Suggestions and reports
Users can report use of a prohibited faceclaim or submit a suggestion concerning the official list. Suggestions undergo manual review. They never automatically become prohibitions. The administration may request clarification or reject an insufficiently supported suggestion. Only the authorized administrator account can add, change or delete official entries.
Image removal request
A real person who discovers that their image is being used on Altersive can request its removal, even without an account. The request can be sent to: scribalter@hotmail.com It should allow identification of the person concerned and the content in question. Altersive may request reasonable verification to prevent an unauthorized person from fraudulently requesting removal of an image. When a request is legitimate, appropriate removal measures are taken in accordance with applicable rights. The person concerned should not be required to publicly submit identity documents.
Challenging a prohibition
A person concerned or a user affected by a decision can request its review. The request must explain the reasons for the challenge and, when relevant, provide supporting information. Altersive may correct, change or remove an entry when keeping it is no longer justified.
Consequences of a violation
Using a prohibited faceclaim may result in removal of the content concerned. In the event of repeated violations, deliberate circumvention or serious conduct, additional measures may be taken in accordance with the Moderation Policy. No sanction is automatically applied solely on the basis of a report.
Changes to the rules
Altersive may update these rules and the official list to take into account requests received, new verified information and applicable obligations. Users are encouraged to consult the official list before choosing a faceclaim.
