Introduction
Altersive is an independent social platform that allows users, among other things, to create profiles, publish content, participate in roleplay (RP) communities and communicate with other users. Altersive is currently developed and administered by an individual based in Québec, Canada. Person responsible for the protection of personal information Altersive — Administration and Privacy Québec, Canada Email: scribalter@hotmail.com For any question about your personal information or to exercise your rights, you can contact us at this address. This policy explains what personal information is collected, how it is used, shared and retained, and users' rights.
Minimum age
Altersive is intended for people aged 16 and over. People under 16 are not permitted to create an account. An age declaration may be requested during registration. This declaration does not necessarily constitute official age verification. If we learn that an account has been created by someone below the required age, we may take the necessary steps to deactivate or delete it, in accordance with applicable obligations.

Altersive does not request access to GPS location or the address book for the features described in this version. Access to the camera or photo library may be requested when you choose to use those features.
Use of information
Information is used to: * Create, authenticate and secure accounts. * Enable management of multiple profiles. * Display content according to its visibility settings. * Enable social interactions and conversations. * Manage preferences and notifications. * Receive and review reports. * Prevent abuse, fraud and attempts to circumvent sanctions. * Respond to support, privacy and removal requests. * Ensure the platform's technical operation. We do not use personal information for targeted advertising in the version described here.
Visibility of profiles and content
Information published on a public profile may be visible to other users according to Altersive's features. Privacy settings can restrict access to certain profiles and content. However, no setting can completely prevent screenshots, copying or redistribution of content by someone who had access to it. An account can manage multiple profiles. Altersive does not automatically make the association between all profiles belonging to the same account public. Certain interactions, voluntarily published information or badges displayed on several profiles may nevertheless allow other users to make connections.
Private messages and anonymous questions
Private messages are not public, but they are not end-to-end encrypted in the current version. Conversations may be processed by the systems needed for their transmission, storage and security. Altersive does not represent private conversations as being systematically monitored by a person. When content is reported, the information submitted in the report file may be reviewed by the authorized administration. ASK questions sent anonymously hide their author's identity from the recipient, but that identity may remain known to Altersive's technical systems. Anonymity does not permit any conduct contrary to the rules.
Technical providers and data hosting
Altersive primarily uses Google Firebase services for user authentication, data and media storage, service operation and hosting of its web version. The Cloud Firestore database is hosted in Montréal, Québec (Canada). However, some data is hosted or processed outside Canada: * Firebase Authentication: data needed for authentication is processed in the United States. * Cloud Storage: photos, videos and other media are hosted in South Carolina, United States. * Cloud Functions: certain technical, social and administrative operations run on servers located in Iowa, United States. * Firebase Hosting: Altersive's web version uses a global delivery infrastructure. When mobile notifications are enabled, certain technical information may also pass through Expo and Google's or Apple's notification services. These notifications may contain technical identifiers and generic text, but not the content of private messages. Some providers and their subprocessors may process information in other countries, in accordance with the services used and applicable contractual terms. Altersive does not sell users' personal information to advertisers. Information may also be disclosed when required or permitted by law, including in response to a valid legal request.
Reports and moderation
When a user submits a report, Altersive may record: * The reporting account's identifier and the target's identifier. * The category and explanations provided. * Supporting links submitted. * Certain excerpts of content accessible at the time of the report. * Dates, decisions and information needed for follow-up. The reporting person's identity is not disclosed to the reported person in the ordinary course of moderation. Administrative access to files must be limited to authorized persons and the information needed for processing. A report does not automatically guarantee removal of the content or suspension of the account concerned.
Faceclaims and removal requests
Altersive may receive requests concerning the use of a real person's likeness as a faceclaim. To review a request, we may collect the contact details of the person contacting us, references to the content concerned and the information needed to verify the request's legitimacy. The official prohibited faceclaims list may display names, reasons for prohibition and relevant public sources, following review. Private information provided to the administration is not automatically made public. A person can request a review for removal of their image by writing to scribalter@hotmail.com, even if they do not have an account.
Data retention
Altersive retains personal information for as long as necessary for the platform's operation, users' safety and compliance with applicable legal obligations. Account information, profiles, posts and media are generally retained until they are deleted by the user or the account is deleted. Stories remain visible for 24 hours, but may then be retained in the profile's private archives or highlight collections. Deactivating an account does not delete its data. By contrast, permanent account deletion triggers a process to delete associated profiles, content and media. Some operations may require processing time. Reports and requests sent to the administration are retained for the time needed to review them and manage any follow-up, subject to the platform's technical operation. Certain technical data, backups or copies made by other users may temporarily remain after deletion, in accordance with providers' procedures and applicable legal obligations. When retention is no longer necessary, information is deleted or anonymized, according to available mechanisms and legal requirements.
Security
Altersive uses technical mechanisms intended to protect accounts and information, including authentication services and access controls. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Users must protect their credentials, choose a secure password and report any suspicious activity. Procedures for handling privacy incidents must comply with applicable legal requirements.
Your rights
Depending on applicable law, you may, among other things, request: * Access to personal information held about you. * Correction of inaccurate information. * Deletion of information when the legal conditions are met. * Information about the use, disclosure and retention of your data. * Withdrawal of consent when consent is the applicable basis for processing. * Review of a privacy complaint. Some requests may require reasonable identity verification to prevent information from being disclosed to an unauthorized person. To exercise your rights, write to scribalter@hotmail.com. Requests will be handled in accordance with the time limits and remedies provided by applicable laws.
Changes to this policy
Altersive may change this policy to reflect changes in its features, practices or obligations. The effective date and version will be updated. Users will be appropriately informed of significant changes.
